Making An Appointment

Nobody likes to be kept waiting. We value your time as much as our own and try very hard to keep a realistic appointment schedule.

To make an appointment, please call our office at (781) 598-0666. Our office hours are listed to the right. We also have Saturday office hours once a month, from 8 am to noon. Please let us know 24 hours in advance if you cannot keep your appointment.

How Often Should Eyes be Examined?

Eye diseases are often silent, with no symptoms in some of the most serious diseases. Glaucoma is only one of the many. It is important for you to visit us regularly, and not just when your glasses need changing.

Routine comprehensive exams are recommeded every three years under the age of forty, and every two years over the age of forty.

We recommend all children should have their first eye exam by the age of four or five.  Dr Freedman also specializes in pediatric ophthalmology.

Your First Visit to Us

When you come in for your first visit it is important that you bring with you your current eyeglasses, any prescribed eye medications you are using and a list of any other medications that you take. If you wear contacts, please bring the containers that they came in or a written copy of your prescription.

We use eye drops routinely. A novacain-like drop is used in almost all comprehensive exams to help us detect glaucoma. These numb the eye for ten to fifteen minutes but do not cause any blurring.

Dilating drops (to enlarge your pupils)  are reserved for special circumstances. Dr. Freedman will explain them to you if he feels they are necessary. Dilating drops do cause blurry vision, especially up close, and will last upwards of four hours and occasionally a few days.

Payment for Services

Payment for services is requested at the time of your visit. We accept cash, personal check, or you may use your Visa or MasterCard.

You will receive a receipt at the time of payment which explains the services performed, the fee for each service, and your diagnosis.

Health Plans

We accept assignment for all proceedures covered by Medicare. We also accept a variey of insurances, such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim, Tufts, Cigna Aetna, HCVM and PHCS.  It is advisable that each individual check with his or her plan to make sure "routine" eye exams are covered.  Many times your primary care physican can give you a referral for certain circumstance.

Prviate Insurance

We do not accept assignment on private insurance for office visits. For reimbursement from your medical insurance carrier, attach our paid receipt to your completed claim form and mail to your carrier.

New Patient Referrals

Success of any practice depends on new patients. We welcome and appreciate your referrals.
