Eye Glasses and Contact Lenses

We are happy to provide you with a prescription for eyeglasses. These may be purchased at our full service optical shop, Swampscott Optical, located in the lobby of our building. Swampscott Optical has a full range of frames, including many designer frames. New equipment in our labs allows our optician to provide one day service on most prescriptions. Recently developed materials, even let us make most lenses 30 percent thinner than before.

We will also supply you with a list of additional places where you can purchase eye glasses and contact lenses.

If after receiving your new glasses you are not seeing as expected, please call our office for an appointment for us to check them.

Dr. Freedman will also be happy to check your contacts and treat any contact lens problems. For contact lens fittings, we offer the services of a highly qualified optometrist, Dr Kathryn Bony.  She has office hours on Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

If you have any questions regarding your eye wear or contact lens needs, please call the professional staff at Swampscott Optical at (781) 595-1222.

Laser Surgery for Medical Concerns

As always, we provide the highest quality eye care available using  state of the art technology. We are committed to provide convenient, personalized eye care in a comfortable setting. In keeping with these philosophies, we now have our own in-house Laser Surgi-Center with both Argon and Yag lasers.

Laser Surgery is an important part of health care for the eyes. We are now able to incorporate laser treatment into a routine office visit when necessary. Drops to enlarge or constrict your pupils when needed will be administered prior to laser treatments. Dr. Freedman uses lasers for retinal problems, especially for patients with diabetes or glaucoma. We do not offer laser surgery for nearsightedness or farsightedness. Dr. Freedman, however, is quite knowledgeable and will be happy to evaluate you to see if you are, in fact, a candidate. He will discuss the pros and cons, make an appropriate referral and will happily co-manage if you desire.

We will be happy to provide you with written information on lasers and their use in eye care. Please ask.
